“Inquiry Pathway to Recovery and Restoration”

#Jeremiah 33:3 (NLT)

By Rev. Dr. Iniobong F. Udoh

Recovery and restoration is possible because our God is a God of restoration. One man who enjoyed recovery and restoration because of his ability to inquire is David. In 1 Samuel 30:7-8, 2 Samuel 2:1; 5:17-19 (NKJV), we see David at different points of His life making inquiry to God on the directions to take.

Most times, when we face certain difficulties, all we need is to make an inquiry from God. Only God has the ability to give the most accurate direction for recovery.

What Does It Mean To Inquire?

1. To inquire means to raise a question, to investigate and interrogate a matter.

It is not a sin to ask God questions because He is your Father.

2. It also means to seek for answers. If you need answers, go to the one who possesses answers. The reason we experience loss without recovery most times is because we go to the wrong persons for answers.

3. Inquiry means asking for help, pleading for help, this implies that inquiry involves Prayers. It involves presenting a request to God.

It takes one who has a personal relationship with God to inquire of the Lord. We are to make inquiry at every point because there are always different seasons. We miss it most times because we assume all circumstances are the same and rely on previous knowledge.

We must however note that David not only knew how to “inquire” but also how to “hear”. So it is one thing to inquire from God but another thing to hear him when He directs us. We must therefore be sensitive enough to hear God when He provides answers to our questions.

Secrets of David’s Efficient Inquiry:

i. David understood that for him to get answers successfully after inquiry, he must abide in God’s presence. It’s not enough to worship from afar; we must be intentional on abiding and dwelling permanently in God’s presence. Psalm 27:4-5 (NKJV)

PRAYERS:

1. O Lord, I receive grace to abide in Your presence this year. Whenever I seek You, I will find You.

2. Father, please give me the grace to seek Your face this year. Let my first response in times of trouble be to inquire of You.

3. O Lord, I ask for answers to my challenges today. I walk into an answer that will solve my problems in Jesus’ Name.
