Lessons From Palm Sunday Donkey

Mark 11:1-10 (KJV)

Our text from the Book of Mark captures the first Palm Sunday. Jesus’ riding on a donkey into Jerusalem was the fulfilment of Zechariah’s prophecy years back, this stands as an encouragement to us that whatever God has said about us will definitely come to pass. Zechariah 9:9 (KJV). A lesson is an amount of teaching given at a specific time. Lessons are a period of teaching and learning. Lessons can come from different sources; nature, experiences of people around us, animals, etc.

Lessons to be learnt from the donkey:

1. The donkey was accessible. The donkey was where the Lord needed it to be. God is looking for people today who are accessible. By accessible, we mean being strategically positioned in a place where You can be used. It means being at the right place at the right time. You cannot be used by God if You are not accessible.

The question to ask is Are you accessible? Or have You built a fence around yourself to prevent the Lord from reaching out to You?

2. The donkey was available. It was at God’s disposal, and willing to be used. Available means able to be used and able to be obtained. Today, we have several functions to be done in God’s Kingdom, but God is still looking for a man because no one is available. There should be a place of assignment tied to our names as believers.

3. The donkey was accommodating. The donkey is naturally a stubborn animal but when it came to Jesus, it stooped low for Jesus to climb on it and it cooperated with Him to enter into Jerusalem.

Ask yourself today… Are you accessible? Are you available? Are you accommodating?

If a donkey could avail itself to be used by God; how much more you?

Songs:

1. On a hill far away…
2. He paid the debt He did not owe…
3. Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord…

4. O Jesus, I have promised…

Prayers:

1. Thank Jesus for coming to die for You.
2. Ask God to help You available for His use.

3. Father I make myself available for Your use today.
